  1. Here is is: THREE great Deathmatch Arenas for all you Deathmatch Crazies
  2. out there.  The easiest way to play them is to copy Arenas.wad and Arenas.bat
  3. to your Heretic directory.  You can then just type "Arenas" to play and
  4. you'll be ready to do some serious fragging.
  5. If you have a problem getting things to run, you probably have an older
  6. version of DeathManager.  Get 1.1 from somewhere and things'll work.

  8. Optionally, you can also run from the command line with a line
  9. something like:

  11. Heretic -file Arenas.wad
  12.  
  13. The first mission is E3M1 so you'll have to jump to the Domes of Desparil if
  14. you do things this way.

  16. On with the Arenas!

  18. E3M1: The Courtyard of Blood
  19.         Here's a Deathmatch level sure to rack up the kills.  All the good
  20. stuff is towards the center and raised high on metal pillars.  Getting it
  21. is a risk...but going without is probably worse.  You'll have to test your
  22. bravery if you want anything worthwhile.
  23. (Note: the center pillars won't start raising and lowering until certain
  24. sections of the outside castle ring (by the teleporters) are crossed.)

  26. E3M2: The Pentangle
  27.         Again, it's quite a risk to get that precious phoenix rod and healing
  28. situated at the heart of an icy star.  Who knows if your enemy is waiting just 
  29. outside the walls with a Morph Ovum?
  30.         (Don't get all fired up on me for making a star shaped level and 
  31. saying that it is secretly some sort of satanic symbol.  The five pointed
  32. star (Pentangle) has long been a Christian emblem and dates back to the 
  33. legends of King Arthur.  Do your research before sending me hate mail, O.K.?)

  35. E3M3: Attrition
  36.         Lost in the Dark?  Of course there are light switches both to make
  37. things brighter, and pitch black once again.  Since there aren't any healing
  38. potions on this level, you'll have to use the Tome+Gauntlets to suck the
  39. life out of your buddies if you want to feel better.  With lots of places
  40. to hide, this level can be a real violent see-saw battle for supremacy...
  41. as a good Deathmatch Arena should be.
